Rounding your cables

Up

It's hard to show here, but basically there is minimum obstruction to the fan sucking air in at the bottom right, and the two fans blowing air out at the top left.

All the IDE and SCSI cables are slimmed down. Simply split the cables every 5 wires (DON'T STRIP THEM) and then stack and wrap them!

Update: I'm told you can do this with ATA66 cables as well, but be sure to split in even lots of wires, ie: 6 or 4, as every second wire is an earth and shouldn't be split from it's associated wire. I've yet to try this myself, but will as soon as I have some spare ATA66 cables.

I also taped up most of the power cables with electrical tape, which really makes it easy to work with them and see where they go/need to go.

This shot just shows the path the incoming air takes on it's way out, and how little crap is in it's road.

Note the 40mm fan blowing on the heatsink/peltier is not blocked so that it gets it's source from cold air coming from the 120mm fan at the front of the case. Heat should then rise and be sucked out by the twin 80mm fans.

The HDD don't get much cooling alas, but  they don't seem need it *, besides, with the overall case temp being so cool they should be pretty happy where they are.

On last thing. Most of my fans have no obstructions. The 120mm has no grill, and nor do the twin 80mm fans, I cut out the case so that that they suck/blow (respectively) straight from/to the atmosphere around the case **.

* I now have very good HDD cooling, a necessity of 7200rpm drives. See the case mods section for up to date info.

Whilst the principle is still true, my fans our now much different, I use ducting a lot more. Again, see the mods section.
